Reggie Bratton Leads BBL in Scoring
USA Select Basketball General Manager, Sean Kilmartin was pleased to se Reggie Bratton (Lenoir Rhyne College) is leading the British Basketball League in scoring averaging nearly 33 points an outing.
Playing for the Worthing Thunder, the 6’5” swingman is enjoying his rookie year under the guidance of the well decorated coaching of Dave Titmuss. Reggie is a product of the USA Select Basketball 2009 European Tour Camp held in June. Sean Kilmartin placed Reggie in the UK top league at the beginning of the season.
Fenny Falmagne and Banks Estridge Join the Reading Rockets
USA Select General Manager, Sean Kilmartin was quite pleased to announce the first professional signings of Fenny Falmagne and Banks Estridge with the Reading Rockets of the England Basketball League (EBL) Division 1. The Reading Rockets are run by the well respected and very close friends; Gary Johnson & Family. They have been consistently among the league leaders each year! Last year, the team completed its’ first ever undefeated season under the leadership of USA Select player Terrell Smith.
Fenny Falmagne, a 6’2” lock down defender whose has a Belgian passport was signed to add depth at the guard spot. Fenny was a participant in the USA Select Basketball 2009 European Tour Camp and played on the USA Select Basketball “Red” team on tour in September. He is a highly athletic player who will work hard.
Banks Estridge is a 6’3” combo guard from Truman State University, participated in the USA Select Basketball 2009 European Tour Camp held in June and was a member and key contributor on the USA Select Basketball “Blue” team. According to Kilmartin, Banks was one of the fiercest competitors we have ever had in a USA Select uniform. He was a leader on and off the court and was among the team leaders in nearly all statistics.

New Belgian Signing - Rockets Chairman, Gary Johnson was pleased to be able to add a new point guard to Rockets roster this week. Johnson signed the young Belgian, Fenny Falmagne, and Fenny goes straight into action this weekend when Rockets play London Leopards in the National Trophy at Rivermead on Saturday.Fenny flew in from the States where he has completed the last 6 years of his education having spent 3 previous years at the European School, Culham, Oxon. With Jon May out for another 3 / 4 weeks after having surgery on his broken cheekbone, Rockets Head Coach Sasa Punosevac was also extremely pleased to strengthen his squad.
This was the first professional contact for both players and Sean Kilmartin was very excited to arrange the contracts.
Davis Bowne and Douglas McLaughlin-Williams are teammates once again!
Sean Kilmartin, USA Select Head Coach and General Manager is pleased to announce that The Bristol Academy Flyers of the England Basketball League Division 1 have signed 6’8” swingman, Douglas McLaughlin-Williams and 6’8” power forward, Davis Bowne. Both McLaughlin-Williams and Bowne shared successful collegiate careers at NCAA Division 1 Appalachian State University.
McLaughlin-Williams has 2 full season of professional basketball under his belt (one in the UK where he was the league leader is scoring, followed by a highly successful season in Australia). Bowne, the son of one of North Carolina high school’s top coach’s (Gary Bowne) is enjoying his first professional contract. The players follow a long line of Appalachian State University players who have played professionally in the UK over the recent years.

Flyers Announce new signings: Big Tall Order Bristol Academy Flyers, Bristol’s first professional basketball team have announced their first 2 new signings ahead of the 2009/10 season.
The Flyers who compete in England Basketball’s Senior National League Division I begin the new season with a pre season friendly against the Team USA Select team on Thursday September the 17th. Flyers who currently play in the 500 seat WISE Arena have been buoyed by the fact that on October the 24th the Arena will unveil 600 additional seats installed ready for the new season making the venue a 1,000 seat Arena for game days. Flyers averaged crowds of 400 plus spectators last year and this season will see the home court Capacity grow ahead of the new season.
Flyers will be hoping to fill the arena with a flurry of new signings ahead of the season. Flyers can now confirm that their two American imports have signed contracts and have received work permits. The 2 players will fly in to join the team on Friday September 11th.
Doug Mclaughlin Williams a 6”8 guard joins the flyers after a stand out college career at NCAA Division I Appalachian State University, he comes with professional experience having played with Sheffield last year where he was selected for the Leagues All star starting 5. “Doug brings the team added experience and at 6”8 he adds some more height at the guard position, Doug is a proven scorer who will be a valuable asset to the club this season” Quotes Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas.
Also joining Williams will be 6”9 Centre Davis Bowen, who like William’s was a part of Appalachian State University programme. Bowen has just graduated and this will be his first professional contract but he will bring some more size to the Flyers team as they look forward to the new season. “Davis is a big guy and brings the team some added size in the front court; he can play both power forward and Centre and he comes with some very good references and his game tapes show he will be a physical presence on the boards” Comments Kapoulas.
Flyers first game will see the team face the USA Select team on Thursday September the 17th at 7.30pm at the WISE Arena. The USA select team which is full of College and University players from Division I and II NCAA programmes will see the a tough test for the new Flyers team.
Ryan Patton scores 44 in BBL Game!
USA Select General manager was pleased, but not surprised to see Ryan Patton score 44 in a recent BBL game (British Basketball League) for the Sheffield Sharks. Ryan, a USA Select player, is playing for former USA Select alum, Atiba Lyons, head coach of the Sharks.

Pattons Shows Shooting Skill – Nov 30, 2009 (by Andy Webb)
Sheffield Sharks’ Ryan Patton (181-G-78, college: Youngstown St.) turned on a shooting master-class to lead his team to an 89-108 victory at Cheshire Jets.
Patton’s 10 of 14 from beyond the three-point line helped him to a team high this season of 44 points and ensured the Sharks would remain four points clear at the top of the BBL at the end of the weekend’s action. Sharks had an excellent second quarter to give them a 43-57 lead and they never looked troubled after.
Joseph Womack is playing in Wales!
Joseph Womack, a 6’6” powerful forward, has signed to play in Wales with the Swansea Storm and the Glamorgan Gladiators. Sean Kilmartin, USA Select General Manager was eager to arrange the contract for the parties. Womack, a member of the USA Select European Exposure Tour team will provide an strong inside presence for the two Welsh teams. In a unique situation, Womack will be able to play for two teams this season. The clubs, who are affiliated, play in two different leagues and can arrange the events so they allow Joseph to play for both teams. The Swansea Storm are headed by USA Select friend Gavin Williams. Williams is a highly respected official in the BBL.

Swansea Storm are please to announce the signing of 6’6 Centre Joseph Womack. Joseph joins Swansea from William Penn University where he Played in 32 games. During his Senior year Joseph was ranked No.1 in the M.C.C for Blocked Shots (42), averaged 8.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in addition to 10 assist, and 34 steals. As well as leading the way on the court Joseph will also be working with our community schools coaching program where hi will be actively involved in delivery coaching sessions at local comprehensive schools in the city.
Womack can also play for the Gladiators. This is the 3rd year in a row that a USA Select Basketball player has been added to the Gladiators roster ( Josh Fowler –Coastal Carolina and Jay McMillan- Appalachian State University) The coach of the Gladiators, Steve Williams, has long term ties to USA Select Basketball. Williams coached USA select partner, David Lawrence during his professional days. Lawrence is considered, by far, the best professional basketball player to have ever played in Wales. Williams also coached USA Select founder Sean Kilmartin son, Ryan Kilmartin, in the FIBA European U 18 Championships in 2007

The star player in this week’s Team of the Week is Sheffield Sharks playmaker Ryan Patton (181-G-78, college: Youngstown St.), who displayed his haunting long range shooting ability with a 44 point haul in the Sharks 89-108 win over the Cheshire Jets last weekend. Whilst he knocked down all six of his field goal attempts, and sunk 100% of his shots from the charity stripe, the most outstanding statistic is that the former Worthing Thunder and Sheffield Arrows guard hit 10/14 from three point land, and played in all but 21 seconds of the game.
Tyler Ousley signs in Germany Pro B
USA Select 2008 player, Tyler Ousley (6’9 Otterbein University) signed to play in Germany with Pro “B” team RSV Eintracht Stahnsdorf . After a very successful introductory professional season in the UK ( Sheffield Arrows, 22 pts, 12 rebounds, 2.8 blocks per game) the NCAA Division III All American forward signed in the very competitive German Pro B league. He spent his inaugural season withe Doug McLaughlin-Williams (now with Bristol in the EBL) and they dominated most of the EBL stats in 2008-2009! Coach Kilmartin wishes Tyler the best of luck.

USA Select’s Clint Deas in Egypt’s Superleague
Sean Kilmartin is pleased to announce that one of USA Select’s most sought after players, 6’8” rebounding Clint Deas, signed to play for Al-Intaj (Egypt) (2009-10) in the top league in Egypt. Playing for AL-INTAJ AL-HARBI, Clint made the adjustment to the different lifestyle quite quickly and in a recent communication with USA Select General Manager Sean Kilmartin , Deas was enjoying the opportunity and playing well!
Jeremy Clayton is in Argentina
Former Appalachian State University (ASU) star Jeremy Clayton in playing in the top league in Argentina for FIRMAT FC SANTA FE basketball team(Argentina-TNA) and performing well. He is currently averaging nearly 10 points per game. Clayton, the all time leader in blocked shots at ASU, had a very impressive USA Select Basketball camp in July and was immediately offered multiple contracts. Jeremy spent part of last season in the top league in Finland. Represented by AAI sports, he has settled down in Argentina and doing well.
USA Select player Noah Brown playing well in Mexico
Noah, one of the many former Appalachian State University players who have been involved with USA Select Basketball is back in Mexico after a very successful season last year. Playing nearly 27 minutes a game, Brown is averaging over 10 points per outing. Competing in the top league for Fuerza Regia Monterrey (Mexico-LNBP), Brown is now in his 5th professional season! Sean Kilmartin, USA Select GM recently called Noah one of the most professional and positive players he has ever helped! Good Luck Noah!
Ahmad Smith is coaching in Ireland for Hoops !
Former Appalachian State University player, turned coach, is now in his second year as a head coach of a professional team, SHAMROCK ROVERS HOOPS basketball team
(Ireland-Super League). Smith, along with his wife Teresa (also a former player and coach) are in the town of Dublin, Ireland; running the team in the top Super League. In addition, the coach has been leading by example and playing for the Hoops! The Hoops play in the South Division and have a long and successful history!

USA Select Alum, Ryan Kilmartin, begins practice at Appalachian State University
Ryan Kilmartin, a member of the 2008 USA Select basketball team that toured Europe, has begun practice as NCAA Division 1 Appalachian State University prepares for the 2009/2010 campaign. Kilmartin, a 6’4” Freshman combo guard was very excited to get started with his new team. The Mountaineers are in the always competitive Southern Conference and have a challenging non conference schedule that includes gates at Arkansas, Louisville, Dayton and an ESPN Bracket Buster
Head Coach Buzz Peterson has been very upbeat about the prospects for the season. As they bring back 12 players and all 5 starters from last season.

USA Select Players dominate England Basketball Division 1 honors!
USA Select Basketball General Manager and Head Coach is please to announce the year end awards for the England Basketball Division 1 (EBL) include a host of USA Select players! First Team All-British EBL team include Tyler Ousley playing for the Sheffield Arrows and Terrell Smith playing for the league leading Reading Rockets. Ousley, a very mobile 6'9" Center/Forwards was a D 3 All American at Otterbein University and Smith was an All Conference performer at Limestone College. Both were members of the USA Select 2008 European Tour team.
In addition, Tyler Ousley was also named Center of the Year and Import Player of the Year.
Gathering 3 top honors in the highly respect league as a major accomplishment for Ousely.
Second Team all EBL honors went to 6'8" Douglas McLaughlin-Williams. The athletic and versatile forward teamed up with Ousley for the Sheffield Arrows. Douglas, a former Appalachian State University Mountaineer, was also a member of the 2009 USA Select Basketball European Tour team. has already signed to play next year in Australia.
McLaughlin-Williams and Kilmartin share the common bond of Appalachian State University, as Kilmartin played for the Mountaineers in the 80's and his son, Ryan, will be playing there starting next year.
Sean Kilmartin was informed in a recent conversation with the Sheffield Arrows head Coach and close friend, Pete Kelly. Coach Kelly was quite pleased that both of his imports were named to her ALL Import First team.
Also equally happy was EBL Coach of the Year, the well decorated Dave Titmus, with his import, Terrell Smith.
All 3 players, Ousley, Smith and McLaughlin-Williams were named to the EBL All Import Team dominating 60% of the spots for that honor.
These were the first contracts for all three and were a direct result of the 2008 USA Select European Basketball Tour. USA Select GM, Sean Kilmartin handled the negotiations and placements for the players.

USA Select Basketball Star Ryan Patton wins BBL 3 Point Shoot Shooting Championship and select to All Star Team!
Sean Kilmartin, General Manager of USA Select Basketball was notified that Ryan Patton, (pictured) long time USA Select star, won the 2009 BBL (British Basketball League) 3 point shooting championship recently. It occurred the same weekend as the BBL Championships, where his final game saw him drop 31 points.
In addition, the former Youngstown State University star was also select to the 2009 BBL All Star team after representing the Worthing Thunder all season.
In a phone conversation with USA Select GM, Sean Kilmartin, the top point guard was excited about the honor and excited about next season.
USA Select player, Terrell Smith named MVP!
TERRLL SMITH INTERVIEW! USA Select 2008 Exposure Tour members, Douglas McLaughlin-Williams and Tyler Ousley are dominating the England Basketball Division 1 (EBL) statistic for the season. Sean Kilmartin, General Manager of USA Select Basketball placed both players with the Sheffield Arrows, headed by good friend Pete Kelly in the top division of the EBL. The Arrows have a long history with USA Select Players and their league leading contributions. This year is no different. McLaughlin- Williams, the highly skilled 6’8” forward from Appalachian State University is on top of the total points scored for the division averaging and astounding 24.50 points per game!>
His shooting skills and shot selection also have him the highest 3 point % of any player with more than 50 attempts ( 54% from behind the arc). Also showing his physical presence, McLaughlin-Williams is 1st in the league in defensive rebounds and currently 3rd in the league in total rebounding averaging 9.4 boards per game! McLaughlin-Williams was coached by Houston Fancher at Appalachian State (NCAA D1). Adding to the stats lists is 6’10” Tyler Ousley (Otterbein College) and stand out member of the 2008 Tour, he is currently leading the EBL is hot blocks (with more than twice as many and the number 2 player on the list). In addition, Tyler is also 8th in the league in offensive rebounds. In a recently televised game, the pair combined for an eye catching 75 points (35 for McLaughlin-Williams and 40 for Ousley) In late breaking news, McLaughlin-Williams has accepted a contract to play in Perth Australia upon the completion of his EBL season. Congratulation Doug, more news to come on this front!
USA Select player Kevin Francis now in Saudi Arabia
Kevin Francis, the highly versatile 6'8" forward out of Cleveland State is playing in Saudi Arabia for 1st Division power, Al-ahli. He is currently averaging 23 points and 11 rebounds per game! His college teammate and USA Select player, Breyhon Watson is playing in Finland.
USA Select Players Josh Gross and Ryan Patton go head to head!
Former USA Select basketball players went head to head in the top British Basketball League. Josh, who now plays for the very competitive Everton Tigers scored 27 points, while Ryan Patton, the point guard for Worthing Thunder nearly matched him with 25! They played in the BBL Championship league event. Everton Tigers closed the gap to eight points at the top of the BBL Championship table thanks to a 121-91 victory over the Worthing Thunder at the Greenbank Academy on Friday evening.
Former USA Select player Curtis Nash playing in Latvia
USA Select player Curtis Nash is now starting for Latvian Team Liepajas Lauvas. The 6'5" former UNC Charlotte star has played for Valmirera (Latvia), Limoges (France), Wilmington Sea Dawgs (USA-PBL), Vivhy (France) and Chalon (France) since participating on the USA Select European Tour in 2005. He is currently averaging in excess of 30 minutes per game with a recent game high of 29 points.
Donte Minter earning his keep in Portugal
Former Appalachian State university Mountaineer, Donte Minter is continuing his debut professional career in style for Vitoria Portugal. In a recent appearance, the 6'8" highly skilled lefty scored 33 points. Former USA Select player Ije Nwankwo played for Vitoria last year. Donte, who was coached by highly successful ASU coach Houston Fancher, is averaging in excess of 60% from the field this season.
Russell Jordan teaming up with Ryan Patton in Worthing!
USA Select player, Russell Jordan, is with the Worthing Thunder of the British basketball League (BBL). Russell, is a BBL veteran who signed his first BBL contract with the help of USA Select GM Sean Kilmartin. The 6'5" versatile player is with the Worthing Thunder in the UK's top league and is currently teamed up with USA Select star, Ryan Patton.

USA Select Basketball General Manager, Sean Kilmartin, recently caught up with Ryan Patton. With the help of USA Select, the 6'1" left handed guard is now with the Worthing Thunder of the British Basketball League.
One of the best point guards to wear a USA Select uniform is Ryan Patton. After leading his Sheffield Arrows to every possible title in his debut professional season, he was named English Basketball League (EBL) MVP. No surprise as he lead the lead in steals, points, assists, three point percentage . He averaged over 30 points and 7 assists per game that year.
His career hit a serious obstacle as he was injured in a life threatening wreck the following summer. After a 16 month rehabilitation Patton need up rebuilding his career in Qatar last season. Now with the Thunder who are in their first season in the difficult BBL, Patton is leading the charge. He has been averaging in excess of 20 points per game and dishing the assists at over 5 per game! Ryan is obviously back in stride and opponents should take note!
USA Select player, Jay Mc Millan scoring in “buckets”!
Sean Kilmartin, USA Select GM is pleased to see former Appalachian State University and USA Select 2008 Exposure Tour player Jay “Buckets” Mc Millan scoring in huge amounts for the Glamorgan Gladiators (EBL 3) in Wales. Jay is playing for Steve Williams, who has a long history with USA Select Basketball and top level international competition as he has coached several Wales Basketball Nation teams in FIBA competition. Including Mr. Kilmartin’s oldest son, Ryan Kilmartin, an Appalachian State University commitment.
The 6’7’ forward is the second USA Select player to play for Gladiators. Jay is dropping incredible numbers, to date, he is averaging 40.07 points per game and 21.8 rebounds and 3 blocks per game!
USA Select players in Sweden
Former USA Select Exposure Tour players are extending their careers in Sweden. Adam Simons, a 7’0” center who played is collegiate ball at NC State and then Xavier is now in Sweden after a successful first pro season in the UK. Adam joined the 2007 Tour and played in the EBL division 1 before moving on to Sweden. His father, Mark Simons is currently coaching 17-0 (as of this writing) Auburn University Women’s team.
Alex Wesby, (pictured above)he former Temple star and member of the 2004 European Tour while in the UK is currently playing for Sundsvall Dragons in Sweden and is represented by top international agency R.H. Consultancy.
Former USA Select player Atiba Lyons is now the Coach!
Former USA Select Player, Atiba Lyons is now player coach for the top level Sheffield Sharks. Atiba, a close friend of USA Select GM, Sean Kilmartin , was named the Player- Coach for the British Basketball League (BBL) Sheffield Sharks. The Sharks have a long history with USA Select Basketball play in the beautiful English Institute of Sport, home to many of the UK’s Olympic teams and training facility. The former Pace University star has a British passport and has been a big contributor for the Sharks organization.
Josh Gross is leading top team, Everton Tigers
Josh Gross, a former UNC-G standout and long time professional signed with and is leading division frontrunners Everton Tigers in the BBL (British Basketball League). Josh is a very athletic 6’6” guard /Forward with several seasons of NBA D-league experience. Showing his experience, Josh recently hit the game winning shot against the Jets to seal a 91-0 win to keep the Tigers on top of the table!
Shawan Robinson is playing in the Czech Republic!
Sean Kilmartin is pleased to announce that former Clemson University star Shawan Robinson is currently playing in the top division of the Czech Republic for BK Nova Hut Ostrava. This is a team that USA Select European Tour 2006 played on tour. Shawan, a former USA Select player and long time friend of General Manager Sean Kilmartin began his professional career in the UK, then played Germany for two top teams prior to moving to the Czech Republic.
Former Appalachian State University Standout DJ Thompson is leading AEK
Former Appalachian State University Mountaineer, DJ Thompson is in the leader boards of both Steals and Assists for top level AEK in Athens (Greece). The 5’8” point guard has been a crowd favorite every where he has played. After making his professional debut in Poland last season (where he was named an all star), he is now among the league leaders in both steals (1.5 per game, 5th) and assists ( 3.1 per game, 7th). He is also averaging 11 points per game in 29 minutes.
Ije Nwankwo is now in Argentina
Former USA Select player, 6’8” Ije Nwankwo (Purdue /Cleveland State) is now in Argentina after playing in Portugal last year. A member of the 2006 USA Select Tour, is now averaging 18 points and 6 rebounds for an San Martin Marcos Juarez.
Clint Deas, rebounding champion is in Ireland
6’8” Clint Deas signed to play for the Shamrock Hoops Rovers in the Irish Super league. The former USA Select and Appalachian State standout is known for his rebounding focus. In previous seasons, he has averaged as many as 20+ rebounds per game. He has season highs of 26 points and 17 rebounds thus far.
USA Select player, Terrell Smith named MVP!
USA Select General Manager, Sean Kilmartin was recently informed that 2008 European Tour member Terrell Smith (Limestone College) was named the England Basketball’s Division 1 National Cup finals MVP! Terrell, who has lead the Reading Rockets to a 21-0 start, recorded 26 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block in the championship game!
According to legendary Rockets Coach, Dave Titmus; “I was thrilled for him when he sparked our fourth quarter comeback. We were trailing by 6 going into the final period but won it 29 - 17 (74 - 68 final score) thanks to Terrell’s inspirational leadership, he would just not let the guys accept defeat. Last week he knocked down a 3 pointer with 0.6 seconds left on the clock to defeat London leopards in a national trophy game that guarantees us a home draw in the semi-finals.”
